一如

The one (zh) ru, i.e. the (sa) bhūtatathatā, or absolute, as the norm and essence of life. The [lang id =1028]真如 true suchness, or true character, or reality; the [lang id =1028]法性 nature of things or beings. The whole of things as they are, or seem; a cosmos; a species; things of the same order. Name of a celebrated monk, Yiru. V. [lang id =1028]一真; [lang id =1028]一實.

﹝出首楞嚴三昧經﹞ 不二不異， 名曰一如， 即真如之理也。 所謂真如界內絕生佛之假名， 平等性中無自他之形相。 故經云： 魔界如， 佛界如， 一如無二如。 是也。 （魔， 梵語具云魔羅， 華言殺者， 謂能奪人功德之財， 殺人智慧之命也。 佛， 梵語具云佛陀， 華言覺者。 謂能自覺、 覺他、 覺行圓滿也。 魔、 佛皆言如者， 魔為修惡之極， 佛為修善之極， 善惡雖分， 其性本一。 故云一如， 無二如也。 ）

一是平等不二， 如是如常不變， 所以一如就是真如的意思。
